Today, I am joining Megan and Nora over at Two Birds. They have a weekly link up titled Inspiration Monday. It's pretty simple really. Each week they post a photo of a gorgeous celebrity looking effortlessly beautiful, and bloggers are invited to share their inspired outfit post. The key word is inspiration. I harbor no illusions of being a 26 year old. I do however, love an opportunity to put my unique spin on a couple of basic items that most women have in their closets; the classic white shirt partnered with dark wash jeans. I also thought that this outfit would be a great example for me to demonstrate how Dressing Your Truth has helped me dress in a manner that better reflects my personality.

The inspiration outfit on the left, and my literal interpretation on the right.

Boots Aldo, just seen here Scarf thrifted Purse thrifted}
So there you have it. White shirt and dark wash jeans two ways. Although I like the literal interpretation, I think the version with the sweater is more playful, more me.
Today, I am linking up with Patti at Not Dead Yet Style for Visible Monday,
and Inspiration Monday at Two Birds,
and Two Thirty-Five Designs for Casual Friday.

Alyssa
If it's not polka dots over here, it's stars.
DeleteI also prefer the version with the star sprinkeled jacket and the light blue scarf. Admirable how you mix colors!
ReplyDeleteGreat architectural photos.
I'm glad you like the non clothing photos.
DeleteGreat interpretation, Sue - I too love the star-touched version. Thanks for sharing the cool looks with Visible Monday : .

ReplyDeleteWhy thank you so much Judith. Yes, it does look more relaxed, I like that.
DeleteI also prefer it with the sweater and scarf, and I love the way that soft teal looks against the orange sweater! A lovely, pretty combination that makes the standard pieces unique, and shows your fun personality!

Thanks Alexandra. Yes, Two Birds are sweet and amazing.
DeleteOooh, love your second interpretation with the cardigan and mint scarf. Lovely! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Jen.
DeleteYour additional colors really did the trick. A white shirt and dark jeans may be classic, but it's also b-o-r-i-n-g. You've added some personality and zing, like you've said - made it yours. I don't understand why anyone would want to try and look like how a celebrity dressed, but you've made sense of it all by going that extra mile into making it yours.
ReplyDeleteThanks Pao. I understand what you're saying. I've been really pleased to see that everyone's inspirations are uniquely their own.
DeleteHi, flew over via two birds. I love your outfit. The cardigan and color blocking with the scarf really pops fun!
