Please allow me to introduce you to Zoya Sophie. I've worn her a few times now, but have been reticent to share until now. You see I've been a bit hesitant on describing her colour. She is officially described on the Zoya website as thus: "Medium, warm red-toned terracotta brown creme with pink undertones. An earth tone reminiscent of southwestern clay." So, we've got red-toned terracotta {and terracotta is usually associated with the colour orange}, brown, and pink. Sound complicated? I think so too. To further murky the waters, the colour I see is a mahogany shade. Zoya's website has Sophie categorized in the brown family, of which I agree. It does, in some lights, have a classic, almost red look to it at first glance, but brown is definitely the base shade. If you like earthy colours, you will probably really like Sophie. If you wear mustards, mossy greens, and deep earthy browns, then Sophie is a nail polish for you. I, unfortunately, do not have many wardrobe items that make Sophie shine. Having said that, this colour works with my jeans, navy blues, and neutrals so I will wear it again. It just won't be in heavy rotation. Technical details...the application is superb. Zoya really has a good formula in general, and Zoya Sophie does not disappoint. Available at Zoya.com and also NailPolishCanada.com

Oooh, that's a perfect color!!
ReplyDeleteYes, I think you would like it Joni.
DeleteSophie is beautiful! Oh man, I would love to be able to change my nail colour to suit my outfit, or my mood, but I can't seem to be able to train my left hand to cooperate. My fingernails haven't seen polish since the early 80's when I had a room-mate that would happily spend hours painting them for me. I used to lean towards the dark reds - cranberry, merlot, black cherry...ahhh.
ReplyDeleteThese days I settle for painted toes, and usually in a muted pink or nude so the oopses aren't so noticeable.
I love painted toes. My finger nails get a lot of bare time to be honest. Could you imagine if I did all my Zoya reviews showing pics of my toes. Ugh, that would be horrifying. I have had the same trouble with polishing my dominant hand. But, I have to say; either I am getting better at it....or I think that the self leveling Zoya polish really does make it a little easier to evenly apply to the nail.
DeleteI have one very similar - Expresso (that's the way they spell it) by Sally Hansen. I love it for a neutral-ish shade that goes with everything. I only do my toes, though, and even then I give up in the winter.
ReplyDeleteI love all the different polish names. OPI and Essie always have such fun names. I think that would be the best job in the world. Nail polish namer. You would be good at that too Val!
DeleteI'm obsessed with brownish corals right now. I really like your blog! You have a very keen eye for detail.
ReplyDeleteI too go in phases as to the colour family that I like. Your blog is really great too Amy!
DeleteVery nice color
ReplyDeleteThanks for taking the time to visit and comment.
DeleteWhat a pretty hue! It's so rich and yet subtle enough for everyday wear. I imagine it would be lovely on so many skin tones. Thanks for commenting on my blog so I could find yours!!! ~Sarah
ReplyDeleteGreat colour! I am obsessed with nail polish and cant stop buying them!
ReplyDeleteThey are a little addictive, aren't they. Good thing they aren't too spendy.
