Zoya - Marcella...

Okay, Zoya Marcella does look suspiciously like Zoya Sophie, {just reviewed here} but I assure you that they are different, just not that different as it turns out.  I'm not really sure why I bought two shades that are so similar, especially since I can't say I'm super fond of either of these brownish tones.  Having said that, Zoya Marcella resonates a little better on my fair skin tone than the more brick tones of Zoya Sophie.  Also, further defining Marcella is a slight shimmer, which, although subtle, is quite pretty.  I've always thought there were just two finishes for nail polish colours; creams or frosts.  Maybe so back in the old days, but this brown polish is categorized as a metallic.  To be specific, Zoya describes Marcella as "medium creamy brown with strong pink and mauve tones kissed with subtle frosty pink-toned shimmer."  Based on this description, I think I was expecting just a little more pink and mauve tones.  Now I will say that if I had only one brown in my collection, I would choose Marcella over Sophie, in part because Marcella stays true to it's colour in various lighting.  Sophie is more chameleon, shifting with the light.   But honestly, I think I'm kind of over brown, at least for now.  I'm ready for some lighter, fresher spring colours.  I used Zoya Anchor, two coats of Zoya Marcella, and a top coat of Zoya Armour.   It applied like a dream, and was opaque at two coats.  Available at Zoya.com and  nailpolishcanada.com

Are they dupes?  No, but they're too close for comfort.
I didn't intend for this to be a comparison post...but it is, and I choose Marcella.

  1. I love nail polish, but never wear it because it stains my nails so badly. They always look like crap when I take the polish off, and it seems to take forever to get them back up to snuff.
Love these colors, though, and wish I could wear them as well as you. You have amazing cuticles! Pretty.
